The Agent Searches Private is more commonly known as "detective or private detective" liberal professions regulated by the law of 12 July 1983 Title II, as amended by Law No. 2003-239 of 18 March 2003 on the Homeland Security.
Article 20 of the Act defined the activity of research in the following manner:

FRENCH CIVIL CODE
Art. 9 Everyone has the right to respect for his privacy. The judges may, without prejudice to repair damage prescribe any measures, such as receivership, seizure and others, to prevent or stop a violation of privacy: these measures may, where emergency Be ordered relief.
FRENCH PENAL CODE
The French criminal code defined in Article 226-1 of the offence of breach of privacy which can take two forms:
- capture, recording or transmission, without the consent of their author, words uttered in a private or confidential in a public place or private:
